Compulsive Overeating

Compulsive Overeating

Compulsive overeating or binge eating is a condition where a person feels compelled to eat large amounts of food over a short period. A person may eat even if they are not hungry. They may also not be able to control or stop even if they are full. Many eat alone due to shame, embarrassment or fear.

Generally, those who do compulsively overeat or binge feel guilty afterwards. They often feel ashamed, guilty and depressed.

How does hypnotherapy for compulsive overeating help?

Eating too much may look self-destructive, but it is always an attempt to self-soothe or comfort. The individual is using food as a medicine for psychological reasons.

Hypnotherapy for compulsive overeating allows the individual to understand on a deep subconscious level that food is nourishment, something to be enjoyed and not something in which they can bury their thoughts and feelings. By working through the problems that have lead them to self-medicate with food the need to overeat will disappear.

The changes come from within, from self-acceptance, not self-denial.
